From the Pastor's Desk - 4/14/2024

          January or February; that is when we will most likely receive the official “word” on what will transpire with regard to parish consolidation in our area. The process of “pruning” parishes has begun. I first understood this last week when I inquired about the approval of the new carpeting for our church. Any change to the church/sanctuary, must be approved by the Diocese—even if it is new carpeting. Well, I was told that right now, all such projects are on hold until decisions are made with regard to the downsizing in DuPage County, and the remainder of Will County and the surrounding area down there.

    Thursday, May 16, is the next meeting with the priests in our deanery with Bishop Hicks. I believe at that time we will be given some kind of an outline of events that will take place later this summer and fall. There will be meetings, visits, and input with regard to downsizing. The reality is, people do not go to church like they used to.

    As things progress, I will keep you informed of all the events that will be forthcoming. These are long-term effects that will take place. Until then, let us pray for the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to be with all involved in this process. And, may we receive good news in January or February.
