From the Pastor's Desk...

Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus, come! These familiar words are with us as we begin the holy season of Advent—and a new liturgical year on the church calendar. Advent is a time of remembering, waiting, and preparing. Of course, we all are in a hurry for Christmas to come. In fact, for many, Christmas is over when the big day actually arrives. However, Advent is kind of like Lent; a time to slow ourselves down, give ourselves some sacred space, and prepare. Advent has 2 “parts” to it if you will—the first part is when we remember that Christ will come again at the end of time. The second part is when we are more focused on remembering the birth of Jesus—Christmas. I pray that you will use this holy Advent time well, thinking of Mary and Joseph, how they said “yes” to what God had planned for them. God has plans for you too. How might you say “yes” to God this Advent?

All during the day on Saturday, December 20, from 8:00-3:00, we will celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation as a Deanery at St. Peter’s in Itasca. This is something our Deanery does every Advent and Lent. We move it around to different parishes. It is a good opportunity to be part of something special. People coming from all over our area for healing, peace and reconciliation. There are usually about 4 priests at a time hearing confessions. Some are behind a screen, and some are face-to-face. Also, there is a wide open time of when you can stop in for confession. Something to think about this Advent season.

Peace………Fr. Jeff
