From the Pastor's Desk - 5/18/2025

   With the recent election of Pope Leo 14th, we all saw how the entire world waited with eager anticipation for who the new Holy Father would be. We then saw the joy on their faces when he appeared on that balcony for the first time. People who were Catholic, and we even saw people of other faiths from around the world show us anticipation and high hopes. Together we celebrated Christianity.

    With that thinking in mind, we have an opportunity to celebrate our Catholic faith around the 35th Anniversary of my Ordination in the priesthood. A committee has been planning 2 events; each a little different. On Ascension Sunday, June 1, we will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for my ordination, and to recognize our faith. My family will be present, as well as a few other priests. A light reception will take place in the Parish Hall afterwards.

    Then, the Following week, Pentecost Sunday, June 8, there is a dinner planned at the Carlisle Banquets on Butterfield Road, here in Lombard. There will be a cocktail hour at 2:00, a plated dinner at 3:00, and a time to socialize with one another. For this 2nd event, we need a “count” obviously, so please RSVP with the invitation card at our information desk. Both events celebrate priesthood, and who we are as a Catholic people.
