This is a subtitle for your new post
Our Easter season is moving along. The 50 days are going quickly! I hope that you have had a good chance to reflect on your relationship with Christ at this holy time. Soon, we will be celebrating Pentecost, coming of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not something that only took place long ago, but that Spirit is present and real with us here today. Invite the Holy Spirit into your life; and look where the Spirit is guiding you.
Not only is the season of Easter moving along, but the transition time for the coming together of 2 wonderful parishes—Christ the King and Ascension of our Lord. July 1 weekend begins a new chapter for both parishes. As I write this to you, I have had several get-togethers with our parish Transition Team and help from members of the transition team from the Diocese in Crest Hill. This week (last week as you read this) I will be meeting with the Ascension Transition Team at Ascension church in Oakbrook Terrace. This is an opportunity for me to listen to their concerns. The next meeting will take place with both parish’s Transition Teams, at which time we hope to get more specific with some important things such as a mass schedule for the weekday and weekends at both parish locations, as well as Religious Education questions.
What we do on July 1 may change by November 1! We all need to be flexible at this time, remembering we have limited resources, mainly of priests. Praying for and supporting our men in the seminary is so important. Priests don’t fall from the heavens, they must be nurtured and encouraged in the seminary years, and in the years they are active priests.
Peace…….Fr. Jeff
