May we ask God to bless us and our nation on this 4th of July, Holiday weekend. May all travelers reach their destination safely!
A week ago we celebrated the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is a reminder, and an invitation to follow and trust in Jesus who loves us. Jesus knows our situation. May He give us good guidance in all that we do.
We are now in the hot month of July, and summer is moving right along. A few days ago, I took on the responsibility of Ascension of Our Lord Parish just to the east of us in Oakbrook Terrace on Summit Avenue. This weekend we begin our new weekend mass schedule. This weekend I will be at Ascension for mass and then next weekend I will be here at Christ the King. Fr. Bob S and I will try to rotate weekends between the 2 parishes. It may be some time before things “smooth” out with regard to priests that are willing to help with the 2 parishes. I am most grateful to our retired priests. This week, for example, I have 2 funerals besides the regular mass schedule to look over at both parishes.
Please feel free to attend either parish church. While we have an 8:00 & 11:00 on Sunday morning, Ascension has a 9:30 that you are also welcome to attend.
Thank you for your patience as we await the outcome of Rome’s decision on the proposed Merger.
