From the Pastor's Desk - 9/28/2025

    This coming Tuesday, September 30, the pastoral letter from Bishop Hicks will be released to the Diocese. It is entitled “Make”. Some years ago, Bishop Conlon had a pastoral letter titled “Go”. We remember in scripture Jesus says “Go, and Make disciples of all the nations”.   The call to evangelization and discipleship is in this pastoral letter. It was introduced to us at the Convocation we recently had. The letter is about a 15-minute read, and is explaining the call to evangelize. So many people do not know who Jesus is. We, the baptized and blessed, know the Lord. Now, we are being called to share Jesus with others.

     One of the statistics presented to us, was the growing number of people who are churchless—the “un-churched”, if you will. This number now exceeds the number of people who have fallen away from their mainline, Christian church. This includes Catholics, Lutherans, Methodist, etc. Evangelization, and this pastoral letter, will be with us for awhile. I encourage you to read it, and to think how you as a person of faith are called to spread the Good News. Often times, this is done in small, but powerful ways. 

     The best way for us to begin, is to deepen our personal relationship with Jesus. Then, let Him guide us as we live our life. Christ is our Light; and we are also the Light of Christ in a dark world.
