From the Pastor's Desk...
Evangelization! That is the theme for the convocation that all the priests will be attending this week. Every 2 years the priests gather and learn about something; topics have been varied. Bishop Hicks is very excited about this year’s topic on evangelization. The church has always promoted evangelization or spreading the gospel of Christ; but we sense that it is needed now more than ever in our secular world.
When we are baptized, we think of what Jesus told his disciples—“go out into the world and baptize all the nations”. This is a command not only for the disciples long ago, but also a command for us. This coming week we will be given opportunity to listen to different keynote speakers and discussions. It is the bishop’s hope that each priest will be able to take something with him at the end of the convocation, that will help with spreading the gospel of Christ, and the teachings of our Catholic Church.
How each of us lives our life is important. Hopefully we are evangelizing when we are going about our everyday duties. Our attitude, our demeanor, what we do and how we do things, should all point to Jesus. I hope you will keep the priests of the diocese in your prayer this week as we spend time together in prayer, in learning and in fellowship.
