From the Pastor's Desk...
A good Labor Day weekend to you! This is the last of the “summer” holidays. Time is moving along, and we begin to notice some changes in this time of year. Although summer is with us a few more weeks, much of our summer activity somehow changes with the passing of Labor Day. While we may be enjoying the holiday, we should not forget how important “labor” or “work” is. I hope you ask God to bless the work you do—it could be something around the house, or someplace where you travel to during the week. What we do with the gifts and talents God has given us is important. Little things and big things; both are important. We might want to remember St. Joseph the Worker. He was a carpenter who provided the necessary means for Mary and Jesus. He took care of them by the carpentry work he would do in his village. We should also remember to pray for people who are looking for work; the unemployed, and the under-employed. It is scary when there is no regular income—or not enough. The work that we all do is important.
As of this writing, we have not heard the decision from the judge at the Vatican regarding the merger of our 2 parishes of Ascension and Christ the King. No one knows when we will hear back, but I suspect we could very well get an answer between now, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving. We shall see. I appreciate everyone’s help at this time of being in a “holding pattern” for our parishes.
Peace……..Fr. Jeff
