From the Pastor's Desk - 10/5/2025

    Did you see it? Have you read it? This past Tuesday, the Bishop’s Pastoral letter came out titled “MAKE”. This will be the evangelization tool to be used in the coming months/years, here in our Diocese of Joliet. It was presented to the priests, both diocesan and religious order, at our recent Convocation. All the priests are onboard with this and it is expected to make an impact on getting people into our Catholic faith.

     The very first words that Bishop Hicks writes at the beginning of the Pastoral letter, is “I love Jesus”. These words give each of us a good question—do we love Jesus? If we do, what are the decisions we make every day that show our love for Jesus? As we teach couples who are preparing for marriage, love is a decision. How we live out that decision every day is important. For us, as good Catholic, faith-filled people of God, we are encouraged to look at how we love Jesus, and how we are personally in a relationship with Jesus. We are His disciples.

     As the document moves forward in different stages, we see the ultimate goal is to share what we have been gifted with—to share the love of Jesus with others. I hope you take this document to heart; look at your relationship with Jesus. Be honest in your assessment. Jesus loves YOU! How might we, you and I, share the love that has been given to us. There is a need for the risen Christ in the life of people—in the life of the world. We know that Jesus makes a difference.
